Why charity: water Raj was a strong supporter of the nonprofit organization charity: water whose mission is to bring clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations through wells, water towers and other sustainable water solutions. Raj contributed to charity: water through monetary donations and by working with their CEO to help increase charity: water's online presence. Raj believed in their cause so deeply that he set a personal goal to raise money for 100 water projects ($5000 finances one water tower or well). In March 2010, he donated the funds for the first of these water projects. His donation was used to build a water tower in a remote village in India that previously had no water source. This project was completed in January 2011 and now 54 families have access to clean drinking water for the first time (see photo below or go to the Updates page of this website for multiple photos). |

With Raj's life cut short at the age of 30, his family is committed to carrying forward his vision of providing clean water to those in need. A campaign page in Raj's name has been set up on the charity: water website where tax deductible donations of any amount can be made. For every $5,000 collectively raised, a well or water tower will be built in his memory. A plaque with his name will be placed at each site.
